We have devised a set of rules by which players are expected to play. If you wish to play on our server you must follow these rules as set out in this post.
These rules are created to ensure that players of all skill levels can play together and to make the game more structured so that players can role play as traders, pirates, hunters and freelancers as they wish.
We understand the importance of having Player Vs Player (PvP) enabled on the server, both to promote teamwork and extend the lifetime of the game, so it will not be removed. However we feel certain restrictions are necessary to allow everyone to enjoy playing on our servers without feeling intimidated by more experienced players.
Moo General Server Rules
Admins are appointed by the server owners, they are there to primarily ensure that the rules of the server are upheld.
An admin will use his or her judgment to decide whether a rule has been broken and also to decide how best to deal with rule breakers. Admins are there to make the game run smoothly and should be obeyed at all times.
Admins are also there to help players with any problems they may have with the game. Don't be afraid to ask if you need help/advice/information.
Cheating on the Moo server is not tolerated.
Cheating is defined as manipulating the game code in anyway so as to gain an unfair advantage over other players, this includes mods of any description (excluding the server mod), map/money exploits, editing your ini files or any other technique that gives you an unfair advantage.
We have a zero tolerance policy for cheating. If you are caught cheating you will get banned from our server.
If you are caught making racist comments on our servers then we will globally ban you from our service and servers. We have a zero tolerance policy. Racism is not a joking matter, and we take it very seriously.
Offensive Player Names
If you are caught using an offensive name you will be asked to change your name. Failure to obey will result is your character being deleted. Repeated attempts to use offensive names will result in you being globally banned from our service and servers.
If you are caught being abusive to other players we will globally ban you from our service and servers. Foul/explicit language is not tolerated. There are often young players playing freelancer that do not need to read this type of stuff. People play the game for fun, they do not expect to receive abuse. If you act anti-socially, expect to be dealt with accordingly.
Deliberate interference in the running of servers, by using bugs or exploits to crash them is a very serious offence and we will not hesitate to globally ban you from our service and servers.
Freelancer Game Rules of Play
No PvP in New York
Players are not able to damage other players in the New York system under any circumstances. This is to give new players a chance to learn the game in relative safety.
Attacking other players
Attacking others players without provocation is allowed on our server,
however under normal circumstances players under level 25 should not be attacked by players more then 10 levels above them. Players above level 25 can be attacked by anyone, at any time.
It is not a hard and fast rule, in any case a admin will use his or her best judgment in deciding whether players have been unfairly killed and will take action accordingly.
Changing character/leaving server/killing yourself
Changing to a different character or leaving the server or F1ing is not allowed if you are in space and currently under attack. If you have died or docked at a base, you are allowed to change to a different character or leave the server. Changing to a different character or leaving server to avoid tax/fine while in space is unacceptable. If you want to keep a character in complete safety, you can keep it in New York. Changing character to save items you are carrying is not acceptable.
Leaving the server, changing to a different character or flying into a planet or sun (or otherwise killing yourself) to avoid the death fine is also not allowed.
Role playing as pirates: The Pirate Code of Conduct
Players wishing to role play as pirates must abide by a set of rules known as the Pirate Code of Conduct whilst using their pirate character.
Pirates must have the tag [Pirate] or [X] somewhere in their name. This is to let other players know your style of play so there is no confusion as to what your intentions are. You may use a clan tag in addition to the pirate tag. We understand that you will have to create a new character, however it is usually only a case of transferring some credits and weapons to your new character.
Mugging/taxing/tolling are all considered pirate activity. Simply attacking other players is not considered a pirate activity.
Role playing as Hunters: The Hunter Code of Conduct
Players wishing to role play as Hunters must abide by a set of rules known as the Hunter Code of Conduct whilst using their hunter character.
Hunters use the tag [Hunter] or [H]. This is to let other players know your style of play so there is no confusion as to what your intentions are. You may use a clan tag in addition to the hunter tag. We understand that you will have to create a new character, however it is usually only a case of transferring some credits and weapons to your new character.
Hunter Vs Pirate and Pirate Vs Hunter Exemption
Hunters are allowed to engage pirates and pirates are allowed to engage hunters regardless of their level or ship they are flying as long as both parties are wearing their tags and it is not in the New York system and it is within the spirit and role play of hunters and pirates.
This means continually killing someone over and over without reason and ruining their game is not permitted. If you have a reason for 'trapping' a opponet at a base or planet and preventing him\her leaving, if is required to communicate this to you opponent. Pirates and Hunters can also tax or mug each other in any system other than New York.
Low Connection Speeds
Do not connect to our servers to play a game whilst you are downloading at a rate that will interrupt your connection, it is inconsiderate to the players around you who are unable to hit you properly. Any players showing a high or fluctuating ping similar to that of someone downloading will be removed from the server. Players who have network problems which cause a similar effect should also please consider the other players, although we appreciate that this is not directly your fault, you still choose to ruin the game for the people around you if you connect to our servers.
