Well, some of us plays ET... and,, might want to know what .CFG (Configuration) are/is.

Its a configuration file.. for you.. to.. make gaming more easy.. e.g. Class selector script, makes u choose a class with a press of a key, (for, cvops example) w.o. going into the limbo menu.


Well, i got some scripts... i'll post it here...
Be free to post ur .CFG's.
(make a file, or.. mostly it excists.. "autoexec.cfg" i believe.. open it with wordpad, or w/e textwriter u prefer, and type
exec "name.of.cfg.file.here.cfg")
A note:
Please watch out with using all the scripts posted below, (with other posts), as it might be "overruled" by a other script.

Use vsay_buddy [class number][number of players][list of players' fireteam IDs] [vsay string] - sends a voice chat to the entire team - it will show up in yellow to the recipients.

a small question, what kind of scripts aren't allowed...

because I know people who reduce framerates for icey surfaces etc...
and there also is a rapid akimbo script

but I do not know what kind of scripts are 'illegal'

No scripts will get you banned, except maybe a sniper-recoil one. You can try a script and just see if you get told to remove it.

edit: oh, and if we use this thread to ask how specific scripts are done I still intend to make my tutorial-style one

edit 2: or maybe not, since this is the sticky I may have to post it in here rather than make a separate one

The definition of cheating or hacking is simple: everything that CAN be adjusted ingame or without changing the original game files (using an other .exe to start it IS) isn't hacking or cheating.
I wish more people would realize that.. timenudge is legal, framelimiting is legal, disabling particles is legal,..

I disagree. You can use some settings to force yourself to lag on other people's screens while having to problem yourself. Luckily PunkBuster limits these cvars, because they are unfair. In my opinion recoil scripts are unfair in the same way, but of course PB can't limit them because they are custom-made for every person.

Not true, you can get banned for removing particles, its even forced in configs. Also r_shownormals 1 is not allowed.

Dynatimers, spawntimers are disallowed to if they are .exe and not self scripted.

Indeed, you can get banned for that. Why? Because the lad who configured the server doesn't like players playing without it. On default settings (which are the only relevant/valid settings in my not so humble opinion), you don't get banned for particles.
Loading shownormals is like the same as being surprised you get kicked by PB with /devmap.

I never saw ET executing an executable ingame, and the day that it is possible by default, I remove the game from my computer.

Scripts like spawntimes can be discussed about, but if you can use your brain and do two things at once, you can also just countdown yourself (unless some nifty server admin de-synchronised it).

Interestingly it is possible to make a Quake3 game like ET to execute another program ingame, but we won't be going into that here. This is about scripting after all.

I think a general rule is, it's up the admins of whatever server you are playing on to say what scripts are acceptable.
